Clue 5

1. Theme of "About Effie" was even though person seem live without problems or internal conflicts, there is something that is hidden.

1. Effie is waiting for a man. He is mysterious and seems very dangerous. Effie know that the guy will come when there is lightening. This is quite similar to this verse

"35"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. 38It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night. "

Effie is doing same thing. Waiting for him to come. This guy is master who will come to Effie. He is master of Effie and Effie is living for him.

2. "Why, if I went to Timbuctoo he'd just as soon find me there. Or in Madagascar even. I don't have to wait around in any old Toronto"
This is what Effie said. it is part of Christ imagery. He is creature of this world, so he knows whatever going on. it means God can find us even though we are hiding. And I think Timothy findley put this into story because he tried to describe God as a him whom Effie waiting for.

3. I think it is possible that non-christian authors reveal truth about God's world. I think like that because utopia in people's mind usually reflect God's world which is perfect world. Even though they are non-christian author, there utopia or thoughts usually based on utopia of God. thoughts from today is based on those thoughts from bible.
